"Hurt feelings and ethical decisions aside...."
So I'm from Vancouver, British Columbia. And 'WE' just had a federal election in Canada. Some people are shocked about the Conservative Government gaining power, some aren't and some are happy but most
--just don't give a shit.
Apathy? Dumb? Uninterested in politics? Uninformed? Aware of the automatic pilot system of the 'leaders' and their will to do what ever they please no matter what the outcome of an election?
ALL OF THE ABOVE!!!
I happen to live in the riding of Vancouver/Kingsway and my newly elected MP made a decision to 'cross the floor'-leaving his party(The Liberals) to join the minority government party(The Conservatives) just days after the election.
It's needless to go into the furor over the decision of David Emerson to change his mind or make up his mind to take a position offered to him by the newly elected PM.
Check out these links to get the back story and different sides to the story: New Conservative cabinet, Repay $97,000, Emerson Flabbergasted, De-Elect David Emerson, (more to come).
So, while I'm driving around in the car listening to CBC radio there is a nice call in show talking about all the trouble in Vancouver/Kingsway.
The usual 'Polarity' is represented...Left/Right. And while the left focuses on issues of legality, ethics, voter disillusionment, standards of democracy residing in power of the individual vote..blah, blah, blah.
The right focuses on the one and only leg they have to stand on. "He's the best man for the job." His experience, his business acumen, his good nature all justify the back roads and illegalities that got him there.
You got it you cry baby lefty, commies!!! He is gonna save our asses!!! It doesn't matter who he ran over on the way!!
Or as I heard it from the mouth of 'Business' itself....
"...There is a bottom line orientation here at the end of the day. I like to look at it as the glass being half full.
And suggesting that hurt feelings aside and ethical decisions aside British Columbia will be the net beneficiary of this and western Canada at the same time."
--John Winters(President and CEO; BC Chamber of Commerce on B.C. Almanac On CBC Radio)
Hmmm, Ethics aside? I kinda like it. I see a future for that mentality.
It's dark and bleak for 99% of the people....but that 1% is GOLDEN!
Good Luck to you all in where you might fall in that future.
